About the Summerland Film Club

Martens Family OrchardsThe Summerland Film Club has been in “operation” since 2009 with intermittent showings during the winter months. Its purpose is to provide the public with a combination of documentaries, foreign films, and full-length movies of the kind that provide some sustenance to the mind and soul.

We don’t charge admission and rely on the good-hearted nature of the viewers, who have been more than generous. We have been able to go from a large TV screen to a more adaptable large-size portable screen, a blu-ray DVD player and a DLP projector.

With the change to a new venue at the Rosedale Room of the Summerland Legion, we hope to cater to persons within walking distance as well as those who bring their cars. The Rosedale Room also has a liquor license and this puts us in the unique position of offering drinks, coffee, popcorn and other snacks for those who enjoy watching films along with some refreshments.

We usually have a great book offered by raffle. All proceeds in support of acquiring DVD's and equipment.

We invite everyone to relax and enjoy some serious cinematography that will perhaps make you question some of the things that are going on around you.

Word-of-mouth will be the main form of advertising, so please get people to search our new website. Tell all your friends about the Summerland Film Club.  Membership is free.

MAP FOR SUMMERLAND LEGION BRANCH 22

There is free parking including handicap stalls. Coffee, beverages and popcorn are available and can be enjoyed during the films. Please support the Legion as they provide the room at no charge.

Films are open to the public. A donation to cover costs is greatly appreciated.  All proceeds are used for equipment and DVDs.

Usually a draw for a book is highly anticipated at the end of the evening.

Equipment

The Summerland Film Club uses an HD Blu-Ray player attached to a  BENQ DLP projector with an HDMI cable to maintain a true 1080P resolution. The image is projected onto a 120" commercial quality screen. We hope to upgrade the speakers to use a home theatre system.
